The immediate past Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola has mourned the demise of Alhaja Monsurat Atinuke Amoke Bankole, the Iya Adini of Egbaland and mother of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole.

Alhaja Bankole, Theliberationnews reported, breathed her last on Friday at the age of 79.

Until her death, Alhaja Bankole was a devout Muslim, philanthropist and a committed community leader.

Joining the family and the government of Ogun state to mourn the demise of the founder of Al-Mönsur Islamic Society, Ambassador Sarafa Isola described her as pious woman who devoted her lifetime to impacting lives positively and promoting Islam.

“The death of the Iya Adinni of Egbaland is one too many for Egba and ogun state at large giving that its coming while we are still mourning the death of former Iya Sunnah of Ogun state and Yewaland, Princess Khadijah Edionseri.

“Alhaja Bankole was a devout Muslim who epitomised the virtues of a good mother and Muslimah. She would be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences goes to her immediate family, associates, Muslim community and ogun government,” Isola said.

Also, the Consultant to Ogun State governor on Islamic Affairs, Sheik Iskeel Lawal Sugar in a statement confirmed her death.

In the statement sighted by Theliberationnews, Sugar described Alhaja Monsurat as a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to serving Islam and her community.

He added that prominent leaders and dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and other notable figures, have been notified of her demise.

The statement concluded with prayers for the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings, bless her soul, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus.
