Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, musically known globally as Davido, has expressed likeness for the democratic process in the United States.
He shared his preference during an interview on The Morning Hustle show, where he discussed his participation in the recent US presidential election.
Davido, who holds dual citizenship as a US and Nigerian citizen, revealed he voted for Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party.
The 32-year-old singer noted that his choice was driven by a desire to witness the United States elect its first female president within his lifetime.
Praising the electoral process, the Timeless hitmaker described the US system as a true reflection of the people’s will.
Despite Donald Trump narrowly winning the election, Davido commended the seamless process, saying, “What I like about America is that there is true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so. The truth is people voted for him. I voted for Kamala. People voted, so whatever happens, happens.”
