Former Minister of Defense and Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Danjuma, has tasked the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other service chiefs on the need to effectively live up to the expectations of their positions which is to ensure security and combat band I try.
Danjuma made this statement at the book launch of “Big Boots: Lessons from My Military Service” by retired Major General Solomon Udounwa.
He stressed that the primary problem facing the country is insecurity and that it must be addressed promptly. He noted that the responsibility lies with the current military leadership, stating, “We must end the pandemic, stop the killings that are going on in our country as soon as possible. Those of you who are still serving, no excuses. Absolutely not”.
Responding, General Musa assured Danjuma that the military is committed to restoring peace and security in the country. He acknowledged that challenges will arise but expressed confidence in the military’s ability to overcome them, citing the lessons learned from distinguished senior officers.
Major General Udounwa, the author, shared his motivation for writing the book, which was to document his experiences for the younger generation.
He emphasized the importance of learning from those who served before them, highlighting the need for discipline, professionalism, integrity, character, and courage in military service.
The title “Big Boots” originated from his large feet and boots, which became a symbol of his determination to tackle bullies and threats to national security.
