No fewer than thirteen political parties out of the 18 political parties in the county have called on the Central Bank of Nigeria not to extend the February 10 deadline for the exchange of the old N200, N500 and N1000 naira notes for the new series.

The parties made it known that they have resolved to boycott the elections slated for February 25 and March 11 if the CBN extends the deadline further.

The coalition of chairmen of political parties commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the redesigning policy as they insisted that it must be upheld.

This was as they knocked the Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara state governments for heading to the Supreme Court to a get court injunction to extend the deadline for the validity of three old notes.

The National Chairman of the Action Alliance, Kenneth Udeze, who briefed the pressmen, said, “We hereby announce that at least 13 out of the 18 political parties in Nigeria will not be interested in the 2023 general elections and indeed we shall withdraw our participation from the electoral process if these currency policies are suspended or canceled or if the deadline is further shifted.
