Veteran Nollywood Actor, Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Passes Away

Legendary Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died at the age of 66.

His daughter, Halimah Taiwo, reportedly confirmed the heartbreaking development during a live session on social media on Sunday evening.

The news comes only days after Halimah publicly disclosed that her father was battling stage-four cancer, while appealing for prayers and support as his condition deteriorated.

According to reports, the hospital treating the veteran actor had stopped chemotherapy and other forms of treatment following the worsening of his condition.

Halimah had earlier clarified that the family was not soliciting financial donations for her father’s treatment. She disclosed that the medical expenses were being covered by the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, Senator Adeola Solomon, popularly known as Yayi.

Ogogo, one of the most respected figures in the Yoruba film industry, enjoyed a remarkable career spanning several decades and became a household name through his memorable performances in Nollywood productions.

His reported passing is coming as a devastating blow to colleagues, fans and admirers who have continued to celebrate his immense contribution to Nigerian cinema.
