The Presidency has taken a swipe at the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi, over reports of physical exhaustion.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, reacted on X on Tuesday to clarifications by the NDC Deputy Campaign Spokesperson, Dr Sam Omale, on Obi’s health.
Omale had told Channels Television that Obi was in good health but was fatigued from an intense schedule of travels and political engagements. He said Obi moves between locations at short notice and takes on multiple responsibilities with little rest, adding that his team had been urging him to slow down and that there was no underlying medical issue.
Responding, Onanuga teased the former Labour Party flagbearer, writing:
“So, Saint Peter Obi is not a Superman after all. He can fall ill like all mortals. I wish him a quick recovery so he can rejoin what looks like another doomed presidential campaign.”
The NDC campaign has insisted that Obi’s condition is mere exhaustion and will not affect its activities
