Veteran singer, Daddy Showkey on Saturday expressed his displeasure with the Nigerian Police Force over the suspension of two female police officers over their viral video on TikTok which was said to be sultry.
Theliberationnews reported that the Force suspended two supernumerary Police officers, Obaze Blessing with SPY number 5709, and Obaze Emmanuella Uju with SPY number 5708 for allegedly violating the law in a viral Tik Tok video on August 3.
As explained by the Force, the officers were dressed in conventional police officers’ uniforms contrary to the code regulating the SPY service.
The Force Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement noted that one of them similarly adorned the rank of Superintendent of Police, contrary to the extant laws.
Reacting to the suspension in a video, Daddy Showkey said that the action taken by the NPF was “uncalled for” as the video only aimed to portray the Nigerian police in a more relatable light to Nigerians.
He added that the video could potentially disabuse the minds of young people toward the police force for good.
“I tell you, our young people are not interested in joining the police, because many policemen have demonized the police.
“Somebody will see a policeman and be afraid, somebody will see a policeman and be afraid to go to the policeman and say ‘this is what is wrong with me.
“These two ladies are trying to make the police to be interesting. Trying to make young people say ‘if we look like this, if we are like this, and we join the police, it doesn’t make the police a bad force.
“You’re the same people trying to repair the image of the police, go and find out. Do visibility studies on the image of the police. For me, I believe the suspension is uncalled for,” he said.
