The Lagos Youth Development Institute (LYDI) has successfully hosted the onboarding ceremony for its 2026 Cohort Fellows alongside the celebration of its first anniversary.
The event was held on Tuesday April 21, 2026 at Civic Hive, Yaba, Lagos.
The event brought together stakeholders, partners, and young leaders to officially welcome 40 outstanding fellows selected into the LYDI Transformational Fellowship Program. The onboarding session provided an overview of the fellowship structure, expectations, and opportunities designed to equip participants with leadership, civic engagement, and personal development skills.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation by the Pioneer of LYDI, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, who showcased the institute’s achievements over the past year, reflecting on its growth, milestones, and impact in youth development.
Also delivering a goodwill message, Adigun who doubles the chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Lagos State Chairman commended LYDI for its remarkable progress within a short period, highlighting its growing influence in shaping young leaders across the state.
In his remarks, the Director General, Dr. Jamiu Ademosu, emphasized the institute’s guiding principle of “collaboration over competition,” noting that this approach has played a significant role in LYDI’s growth and continues to define its culture and impact.
“Our commitment to collaboration over competition has enabled us to build stronger networks, create more opportunities, and sustain meaningful impact,” he stated
The event also featured goodwill messages from partners and stakeholders, whose continued support and collaboration have contributed significantly to LYDI’s success over the past year.
Beyond the onboarding, the event commemorated one year of impactful existence, reflecting on achievements in youth empowerment, leadership development, civic education, and access to opportunities for young people across Lagos and beyond.
The highlight of the event was the official induction of the fellows into a growing community of change-makers, marking the beginning of a transformative leadership journey.
