The Super Eagles have sent heartfelt sympathies to the family of five Nigerians who tragically lost their lives while watching the Semi-final match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday.

Recall that Theliberationnews reported that a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh; Deputy Bursar, Kwara State University, Malete, Ayuba Abdullahi, and a corps member serving in Adamawa State, simply identified as Samuel suffered attacks while watching the match which consequent led to their untimely death.

Also, an Anambra-born businessman, Osondu Nwoye, based in Cote d’Ivoire, was reported to have collapsed inside the stadium, while watching the match and died later in hospital.

Expressing condolence to the families of the patriotic Nigerians, the Super Eagles through a post on their X account sent their sympathies condolences noting that the deceaseds will forever be remembered for their patriotism.

“During the course of our semi-final match, we tragically lost few supporters. In a cruel twist of fate, their fervent passion for the beautiful game unwittingly led them to their final moments. As the Nigeria vs South Africa match unfolded, they were lost in the thrill of the game, unaware of the looming danger.

“May their souls find eternal peace, forever remembered for their love of football and the togetherness it brings. Rest in peace,” the post read.
