Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s vice-president, has conceded defeat to former President John Mahama in the country’s presidential election.
Bawumia is the candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mahama is of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Theliberationnews observed that Results coming in have placed Mahama on course to win the election.
While the former president has gathered 56.39 percent of the votes with 976,644, Bawumia has 42.64 percent with 738,493 votes.
“I have, this morning, received a congratulatory call from my brother Dr @MBawumia, following my emphatic victory in Saturday’s election.
“Thank you, Ghana,” Mahama wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter), this morning.
