…locks Twitter account over deluge of cyber attacks

It has been a gush of cyber attacks on Astha Rajvanshi, a staff writer for Time 100 from supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi over her inclusion of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu among 100 Most Influential Person in the World.

Rajvanshi have been forced to locker her Twitter account, an action which was believed to be connected with criticisms she has received over her glowing article about Tinubu on the latest Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.

Rajvanshi has been a subject of overwhelming social media attacks for describing Tinubu role as a “longtime political power broker” and acknowledging his efforts in helping to restore Nigeria’s democracy in 1999.

Many Nigerian Twitter users, who are mostly supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, known as ‘Obidients’ lambasted the writer for decorating Tinubu’s contentious political career, which includes allegations of corruption and drug case in the United States, among others.

In response to the backlash, the writer, Astha Rajvanshi locked her Twitter account and has not commented publicly on the matter.

On the contrary, Tinubu’s supporters have hailed his inclusion on the list as a validation of his leadership and political influence, both in Nigeria and on the global stage.

Some of the reactions are below:

One of the critics, Israel Victor, wrote: “Time Magazine talk say Tinubu na 100 most influential men, the same magazine wey award Adolf Hitler as their most influential in the early 90s. No surprised. Promoting wicked men to favour their agenda

UberFacts keep opening their bumbum. We know say deep down you be Eluuu P 📌”

In reaction, Femi Fani Kayode Wrote: “Simply for listing @officialABAT as being amongst the top 100 most powerful people in the world, @TIME magazine’s Astha has had to lock her Twitter account because of the hate speech and trolling that she has been subjected to by the followers of @PeterObi.

“Given this, can anyone dispute it when we call the Obidiots and members of the Obidati cult nothing but vicious and murderous fascists who are incapable of accommodating a plurality of views?

“They will go down in Nigerian history as the most savage, ignorant and depraved bunch of totalitarian nincompoops that our politics has ever known.

“Peter and Dati the Daft have spawned an army of savage and uncontrollable barbarians and instead of attempting to reign them in they are openly encouraging them and commending them for attacking, insulting and tormenting those that do not share their views.

“Must we wait until they start to slaughter and butcher our people and subject them to crimes against humanity, mass murder, ethnic cleansing and genocide before we recognise them for what they are, call them to order, resist them and bring them to justice?

“Nigeria has never witnessed such a vicious, evil, toxic, psychotic, delusional and dangerous gathering of violent and beastly totalitarian savages in her politics in our entire history. Give them power and they will end Nigeria.

“Those that say we should “slow down” and “take it easy” with the savages still do not know what we are dealing with.

“They are evil and we shall not relent in our struggle to oppose them and expose them for who and what they are.”
