Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emphatically declared Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, once stood before him to demand his commission of electoral fraud.
According to Oshiomhole, Fayemi, who is currently an APC presidential aspirant, requested from him to rig the election for an APC candidate when he was the chairman of the party.
Oshiomhole who was former Edo State governor was speaking on a Channels Television interview programme, ‘Political Paradigm’, in which he recounted his days and exit from the position of APC national chairman.
According to Oshiomhole: “I said it in one of the meetings I had with governor Kayode Fayemi who told me bluntly to my face, “chairman, what we are saying is, you can go and conduct an election to fulfil all righteousness, but when we say this is the person that should emerge, just make sure he is the person that emerges’.
“And I told governor Fayemi that, ‘that would be your own portion, not me’. I cannot be used as an instrument of fraud, to invite people to buy forms when I have already decided, regardless of how people will vote, this is the man that will prevail.
“You want to use me for such a purpose, I said no, I said at worst, if you find the number to get rid of me, I will rather leave the job with my honour than sacrifice my honour to keep the job,” Oshiomhole said.
The former governor of Edo State also narrated how President Muhammadu Buhari was always full of praise for him, even in public, and how that landed him in trouble.
“President Buhari always full of praise for me, he said, ‘I will want you in Abuja, APC will need you in Abuja.”
Oshiomhole was removed as chairman through court decisions that led to the final dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC which he presided over.
The latest revelations by Oshiomhole confirmed speculations, especially in Ekiti state, that Fayemi is a looming tyrant masquerading as a democrat. It is even being widely peddled that Fayemi’s bad democratic leadership approach is responsible for the hooplas in the state’s APC hierarchy. Some have even dismissed his presidential aspiration as dead on arrival on the basis of his anti democratic tendencies.
