– Won In 21 LGs, Oyebamiji In 9 LGs
The incumbent governor of Osun State, Senator and Ccord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner of the governorship election in the state.
The election conducted on Yesterday was adjuged a tense and keenly contested election between Adeleke and the APC candidate, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji.
Announce the result, the returning officer, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunsola, said Adeleke polled a total vote of 511, 067 to defeat his APC opponent who scored 444, 815.
Adeleke also defeated his 21 out of 30 local governments and one area office of the state.
African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came a distant third with 17, 180 votes.
Adeleke thus secured a second term in office in the epic battle to extend his stay at the Bola Ige House till 2030.
About 2,339,544 voters were accredited out of 1,010,684 registered voters.
Observers report said the election was largely free and fair, significantly reducing fear of violence.
It would be recalled that drums of war were beating and and escalation of violence almost resulted in breakdown of law and order.
Many even warned political actors in Osun that Osun might descence to political anarchy reminiscent of operation wetie of the Second Republic.
However, the election witnessed minimal disruption in sprinkled area of the state.
