Governor Ademola Adeleke has cast his ballot at his polling unit in Sagba/Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State, as voting progresses in the 2026 Osun governorship election.
Adeleke voted at about 8:45 a.m.
Speaking with journalists after casting his ballot, the governor described the exercise in his immediate area as peaceful.
However, the governor said he had received reports of violence in Modakeke and Obagun, alleging that supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were behind the incidents.
He also accused some police officers in the affected areas of allegedly aiding the violence.
It was gathered that security agents shot tear gas at the crowd shortly after ekection materials arrived the polling units.
It was not clear what transpired and the immediate motive of the security in taking the action.
Meanwhile, Adeleke called on security agencies to urgently restore peace in the affected communities and ensure that voters can exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.
The governor said he remained confident that Osun voters were prepared to participate in the election and vote for him.
