Former Skye Bank Chairman Tunde Ayeni was allegedly stripped of a luxury wristwatch and wedding ring worth over N120 million during a raid at Kuje Correctional Centre, sources say.
The operation, carried out on Tuesday, was led by senior Nigerian Correctional Service officials, including the Deputy Controller-General of Operations.
Armed officers and DSS dogs stormed the yard in bulletproof vests, sparking panic among inmates.
One source said Ayeni was searched and robbed of his valuables by officers in charge of the facility.
Suspended DCP Abba Kyari, also detained at Kuje, allegedly lost about N2 million in the same operation.
Insiders claim cash and items belonging to several high-profile detainees were taken without documentation.
The raid was presented as a routine search, but inmates described it as intimidation and abuse of power.
Ayeni is said to be preparing a formal petition against the officers involved. He is currently facing trial over alleged N15.7 billion fraud and was recently granted N200 million bail with strict conditions.
The Kuje facility has a history of security controversies, including jailbreaks and claims of preferential treatment for high-profile inmates.
The Nigerian Correctional Service has not yet commented on the allegations.
