Ikeja Electric has launched a fierce counter-offensive against a damaging online publication, declaring it entirely false and vowing to sue those responsible for what it terms a “coordinated disinformation campaign” aimed at its leadership and operations.

In an official statement issued by Head of Corporate Communications Kingsley Okotie, the power distribution company confirmed it is moving to the courts. “Ikeja Electric has instructed its legal advisers to carry out a deep forensic investigation and initiate defamation proceedings against the authors, publishers, and persons or entities found to be responsible,” the statement declared.

The company expressed outrage at the circulation of the material, which it said is “currently circulating online, particularly on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.” The publication falsely alleges “impropriety against the company” and specifically targets CEO Mrs. Folake Soetan and Board Chairman Dr. Kola Adesina with defamatory claims.

Dismissing the source entirely, Ikeja Electric stated, “Investigation so far reveals that the ‘Nigerian Global Business Forum’ is an unregistered organization with no recognized legal or corporate existence locally or abroad.” It also discredited the individuals named, saying the signatories, “Dr. Alaba Kalejaiye” and “Musa Ahmed,” have “no verifiable professional credentials or established public profiles.”

The content of the publication was dismissed as containing “false and misleading statements regarding Ikeja Electric’s operations, safety record, and financial practices.” The company emphasized that the intent was clearly “to misinform the public.”

While reiterating its operational commitments, the statement drew a firm line: “While Ikeja Electric operates within a strict framework of accountability and remains committed to transparency and service improvement, the company will not tolerate coordinated disinformation campaigns aimed at undermining public confidence and tarnishing its corporate integrity.”

The public was advised in strong terms to “disregard the false publication in its entirety.” Ikeja Electric concluded by reaffirming it “remains steadfast in its mandate to deliver reliable power while upholding the highest standards of corporate governance, and customer excellence.”
