Aloy Ejimakor, Special counsel for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, explained that the IPOB Leader withdrew his N20billion case against the Federal Government for strategic reasons, Theliberationnews learnt.
Kanu had sought a declaration that his arrest and imprisonment at a location in Kenya and his subsequent imprisonment in the aircraft that conveyed him to Nigeria amounted to false arrest and false imprisonment.
The IPOB leader also sought an order directing the defendants to, jointly and severally, pay him N20billion general and exemplary damages as well as an unreserved personal letter of apology
But, Ejimakor said his client has decided to discontinue the case, in which the Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar, were the defendants.
He tweeted: “The United Kingdom case is awaiting decision. Federal High Court case for Nov 18 is discontinued.
“The AU (African Union) case is awaiting decision. United Nations Opinion has been escalated to other tribunals.”
Ejimakor said the suit before Justice Inyang Ekwo was discontinued for strategic reasons that would be inappropriate and unprofessional to disclose publicly.
