The appointment of the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, as Director of Youth Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has been welcomed by youth leaders across the country, who described the development as recognition of his leadership experience and engagement with young Nigerians.
In a statement issued by the Forum of State Chairmen, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), and signed by its Chair-of-Chairmen, Engr. Ibrahim Olalekan Adigun, the forum described the appointment as well-deserved, noting that it reflected confidence in Olawande’s leadership credentials and capacity to engage young people.
Reacting to the development, Adigun said, “On behalf of the entire Nigerian youths, we congratulate Hon. Ayodele Olawande on this appointment, which we consider a recognition of his leadership experience, commitment to youth development and capacity to connect with young Nigerians. We are confident that he will bring these qualities to bear in the discharge of his responsibilities.”
“Young people are an important part of Nigeria’s democratic process. Their voices, aspirations and contributions must be recognised and given meaningful expression. We believe this appointment presents an opportunity to deepen youth engagement and encourage greater participation in national affairs,” Adigun added.
The NYCN state chairmen pledged to mobilise their structures across the country in support of Olawande’s youth mobilisation efforts, stressing their readiness to contribute to effective youth engagement and participation in the campaign council’s activities.
