PHOTONEWS: Hamzat, Wife Pays Condolence Visit To Joke Silva Over Olu Jacobs’ Death

Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has, alongside his wife, Oluremi, paid a condolence visit to Dame Joke Silva and the family of the late Nollywood legend Olu Jacobs.

Hamzat made this known in a statement on X.

Hamzat eulogised the late actor, who died at 84, as a pioneer whose craft shaped generations.

“My wife, Oluremi, and I paid a condolence visit to Dame Joke Silva and the family of the late Olu Jacobs,” he said.

“We lost a true icon. Olu Jacobs was a pioneer and a remarkable actor whose work touched generations. He left a lasting legacy in Nigerian entertainment, and his depth and talent were truly exceptional.

“I offered our deepest prayers to the family during this difficult time. May God grant him peaceful rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss.”

Jacobs, fondly called ‘The Lion of Lufodo’, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

His family announced his death and requested privacy as they mourn.

The late actor, whose career spanned stage, television and film, is regarded as one of the most influential figures in Nigeria’s entertainment history.
