The buried arrangement of the legendary Nollywood actor, Alhaji Hassan Taiwo, popularly known as Ogogo, has been announced.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Imam of Ilaro, the funeral prayer for the late actor will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, Ilaro.

Ogogo, a native of Ilaro, was one of the respected figures in the Yoruba film industry, where he made his mark as an actor, filmmaker and traditional chant performer.

Throughout his career, the veteran actor was celebrated for his distinctive performances in Yoruba-language films and his contributions to the promotion and preservation of Yoruba culture.

His career, however, was accompanied by periods of serious health challenges. In 2025, Ogogo publicly disclosed that he had been battling chronic ulcer for several years.

In recent weeks, his family revealed that the 66-year-old actor was battling stage-four cancer and appealed for urgent medical assistance.

His deteriorating health subsequently prompted colleagues, fans and well-wishers to organise prayers and seek specialist medical intervention.

The announcement of his burial arrangements has thrown Ilaro and the wider Yoruba entertainment community into mourning, with fans, colleagues and residents paying tribute to the late actor, regarded as one of the community’s prominent sons.

The funeral prayer is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro, as announced by the Chief Imam of Ilaro.
