World Cup 2026: Nine African Countries Qualify For Round Of 32

It is a campaign to remember for African football at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, with nine out of ten countries successfully booking their spots in the tournament’s knockout stages.

The continent’s impressive run saw almost its entire contingent advance, showcasing immense depth and resilience on the global stage.

The lone casualty of the group stage was Tunisia, who bowed out of the competition after a disappointing campaign left them at the bottom of Group F with zero points.

Algeria became the final African nation to secure their progression following a thrilling 3-3 draw against Austria earlier on Sunday.

The hard-fought point was enough to see the Desert Warriors sneak through to the last-32 as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams. Algeria wrapped up the group phase with four points from their three matches, finishing third in Group J behind Argentina and Austria.

With 90% of its teams still alive in the competition, Africa heads into the knockout rounds with unprecedented momentum.

Below is the list:

DR Congo
South Africa
Ghana
Ivory Coast
Senegal
Egypt
Cape Verde
Morocco
