The Oyo State Government has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew on 10 local government areas surrounding the Old Oyo National Park as part of renewed efforts to tackle kidnapping, insecurity, and other criminal activities in the affected communities.
The curfew, announced by the state government on Tuesday, will take effect from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., beginning Wednesday, June 24, 2026, and will initially last for 48 hours.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the government said the measure was necessary to strengthen security operations and restore peace across communities bordering the national park.
The affected local government areas include Oriire (Ikoyi-Ile), Orelope (Igboho), Irepo (Kisi), Saki West (Saki), Saki East (Ago-Amodu), Atisbo (Tede/Ago-Are), Itesiwaju (Otu), Iseyin (Iseyin), Olorunsogo (Igbeti), and Atiba (Offa-Meta, Oyo).
Oyelade explained that the directive forms part of the state’s broader strategy to curb criminal activities and protect residents living around the Old Oyo National Park axis.
He urged residents in the affected areas to comply with the curfew order, while assuring that security agencies would continue intensified operations to safeguard lives and property.
The government added that the move was aimed at creating a safer environment and supporting ongoing efforts to eliminate threats posed by criminal elements in the affected communities.
