Dr. Adeshola Cole, a tech specialist and founder of Tritek Academy, has launched her memoir, The Woman I Have Become, in Lagos, detailing her journey from the UK to Nigeria and her rise in the technology sector. The book launch comes as Cole advocates for a shift in Nigeria’s AI education from consumption to building the technology from the backend.
Cole, a project manager, business analyst, and AI specialist, described the book as a story of survival, cultural adaptation, and self-identity.
She noted it chronicles her steps to leadership and the mistakes she made along the way.
The five-chapter memoir covers her journey to Nigeria, adapting to Nigerian culture, her university experience, working odd jobs in the UK, and her success as a CEO.
Speaking on Nigeria’s AI landscape, Cole stated that the country is “not there yet” and requires specialists to bridge the gap.
She emphasized the need to move beyond just learning how to use AI to understanding how to build it from the backend, an initiative she plans to introduce next year for Nigerian youth.
Addressing concerns about AI making jobs redundant, Cole advised youths to focus on being persons of value.
She emphasized that while AI can assist, intellectual knowledge remains crucial for keeping jobs in a competitive market.
“At some point, if you don’t have the mental and intellectual knowledge, you will get caught out,” she warned.
Cole’s Tritek Academy, which has operated for nine years, primarily trains candidates aged 25 to 60.
She noted the need to also bring in the younger generation to prepare them for the future job market.
The tech entrepreneur also called for government and university support to integrate AI education across all disciplines.
The memoir is scheduled for launch on September 26 in Enfield, London, with Cole expressing hope that the book’s success would give her confidence to write a tech-focused book for the youth next year.
