…Clears NYCN Lagos Chairman, Adigun, Of Allegations, Describes Accusers As Impostors
The Lagos State Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Quadri Odewunmi, has reaffirmed the support of the student structure for the governorship aspiration of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Odewunmi, in a press statement he signed personally alongside the secretary of the association, Comrade Adetola Olagunju and made available to Theliberationnews on Sunday condemned some groups of individuals laying claim to the students’ structure.
He described a statement issued by the alleged impostors where they faulted the alignment of NANS Lagos JCC with KOH Youth Ambassadors; a political support groups launched for the realization of Hamzat’s gubernatorial ambition, as ‘baseless and poorly crafted’ adding that the statement wouldn’t have been dignified if not for the necessity of setting the records straight.
According to him the individuals behind the watery statement are “impostors, desperately seeking relevance and recognition where none exists. Their consistent resort to propaganda, falsehood, character assassination and media theatrics only exposes their lack of legitimacy and disconnect from the mainstream Lagos student community.”
He reaffirmed that NANS Lagos JCC, under his leadership, as the authentic student structure in the state stressing that the current Lagos State Deputy governor and consensus gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Obafemi Hamzat has the students’ total support.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the leadership of NANS JCC Lagos State under Comrade Quadri I. Odewunmi remains the only recognized, structured, and legitimately grounded student leadership in Lagos. No amount of media manipulation or staged appearances can overturn this fact.
“Furthermore, we reaffirm our unwavering support and alignment with the vision and leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. This support is not borne out of convenience, but from a well-considered appreciation of his track record, administrative competence, and demonstrated commitment to the development of Lagos State.
“His leadership prowess, experience in governance, and consistent contributions to the growth of Lagos State stand as clear indicators that he possesses the capacity to move the state forward. As such, the NANS JCC Lagos leadership under Comrade Quadri I. Odewunmi stands solidly with the KOH vision and remains committed to supporting credible leadership that aligns with the aspirations of Nigerian students,” the statement read in part.
Also the student leader strongly condemned the cheap blackmail aimed at the Convener of KOH Youth Ambassadors and Lagos State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Engr. Adigun Ibrahim stressing that the claims against him are not only faux but baseless.
“We also find it necessary to firmly distance the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, from the unfounded and politically motivated allegations leveled against him. The attempt to single him out for character assassination and drag his name into their Psychotic confusion is not only irresponsible but a clear indication of their strategy to create emotional blackmail and unnecessary controversy for the purpose of attractting public sympathy. These claims are false, baseless, and should be disregarded entirely,” he emphased.
He therefore urged the general public, stakeholders, and the student community to disregard the misleading publication by these impostors, stressing that it lacks substance, legitimacy, or recognition within the structure of NANS Lagos.
Issuing a strong warning to the impostors, Odewunmi urged them to desist from further attempts to mislead the public, as the student movement in Lagos will not be hijacked by individuals driven by desperation and self-interest.
The integrity, unity, and progress of the Lagos student movement remain our utmost priority, and we will continue to defend it against all forms of illegitimacy.
