For the first time since the installation of its Chief Imam last year, Taqwallah Central Mosque, Dalemo Alakuko, Ogun State will witness another landmark ceremony as 11 worthy members of the congregation are scheduled to receive turbans on April 26, 2026.
The upcoming turbaning of the 11 individuals marks the first such mass investiture since Imam Lukmon Olamilekan Fasasi was turbaned as Chief Imam last year—an event that broke a 44-year tradition, as the mosque had not held a turbaning ceremony since its establishment in 1981.
In a pre-ceremony address, Chief Imam Fasasi expressed profound gratitude to the Almighty Allah for the mosque’s evolving legacy.
“We thank Almighty Allah for granting us the ability to set the pace for other mosques around this community.
“What we are doing here at Taqwallah Central Mosque is unprecedented in this locality, and we pray that this becomes a model of spiritual leadership and community development for generations to come,” the Chief Imam said.
The Turbaning Committee Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Ipadeola, credited the success of last year’s installation of the Chief Imam as the foundation upon which this expanded ceremony is built.
“The success of the turbaning of the Chief Imam last year was a divine orchestration, and I appreciate the cooperation and support of the upcoming turbanees, who have shown exemplary dedication,” Ipadeola said. “I can confirm that all preparations have been concluded to hold the next turbaning ceremony on April 26, 2026.”
He further disclosed that the ceremony will coincide with a N30 million fundraising drive aimed at completing the mosque’s construction.
“This is a double-barreled blessing—honouring our new leaders while pushing forward a project that will serve the entire Muslim ummah. I urge Muslims from all over to support the mosque project generously,” Ipadeola added.
The mosque’s Financial Secretary, Moshood Bamidele, assured that the event would not be a local affair.
“This turbaning will be a national standard ceremony. We are putting together a programme that reflects the dignity of Islam and the importance of this historic moment for Taqwallah Central Mosque and Ogun State at large,” Bamide stated.
The ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries, Islamic scholars, and community members from across the state.
The turbaning committee, therefore, called on all attendees to arrive promptly as seating will be arranged on a first-come, first-served basis.
