The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has owned up for the mass failure recorded in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, could barely hold back tears at a press conference on Wednesday, while admitting to the unpalatable development.

He announced that about 379,997 candidates in the just concluded 2025 examination would re-sit the examination.

This followed widespread complaints of technical glitches, unusually low scores, and alleged irregularities in the just-concluded UTME.

Prof. Oloyede said he took full responsibility for the negligence of its staff, revealing that 65 centres in Lagos and 92 centres in Owerri Zone covering the five states in the South East, would rewrite the exam.
