The ongoing political battle between ex-Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike and his gentle protege cum incumbent governor, Sir Sim Fubara has reached a boiling point as the State House of Assembly on Monday removed its majority leader, Edison Ehie believed to be the governor’s right hand man.

Ehie was removed by 23 votes of members present amidst very tight security, ostensibly to lay foundation for eventual removal of the governor.

In retaliation, the governor also sacked Chidi Amadi, his Chief of Staff, and Promise Wosu, Government House Chief Security Officer. The duo are believed and known to have been foisted on Fubara by Wike.

In confirmation of the seriousness of the matter at hand, the governor purportedly stormed the Assembly while House members flee for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex amid protests outside the Assembly Complex.

Recall Theliberationnews reported that there was fire outbreak at the Assembly shortly before 10pm Sunday night. The fire was later put out by fire fighters.

A faction of the Assembly members loyal to Wike wants to impeach the governor but they were being contained by pro-Fubara members who insisted that Fubara is the governor and should be allowed to govern without interference.

Some accused Wike of being high-handed and wanting to be issuing directives to governor Fubara in what they described as Wike’s proposed third term.

It is believed that the removal of Ehie will pave way for subsequent impeachment of Fubara.
