The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the successful rescue of the teachers and pupils of Local Authority Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The commendation was conveyed in a statement by the Chairman of the Forum of State Chairmen and Chairman of NYCN Lagos State, Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, MNSE, who described the safe return of the victims as a welcome development that has brought immense relief to their families, the people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large.

According to Adigun, the successful rescue operation is another testament to President Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens through sustained investments in the nation’s security architecture.

Adigun noted that President’s strategic leadership in providing the necessary support, resources and policy direction has strengthened the operational capacity of security agencies in tackling criminality across the country.

He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local vigilante groups and other security operatives involved in the rescue mission for their professionalism, bravery and collaborative efforts. According to him, the operation demonstrates that with effective synergy among security agencies, criminal elements can be decisively confronted while innocent lives are protected.

While celebrating the successful rescue of the abducted teachers and pupils, Adigun expressed sadness over the death of a soldier and teachers reportedly killed during the incident. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, while urging security agencies to sustain the ongoing offensive against kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes across the country.

He further appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence and community cooperation, stressing that security remains a collective responsibility requiring the active participation of all citizens.

The chair-of-chair reaffirmed the commitment of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, through its Forum of State Chairmen, to partnering with the Federal Government in promoting peace, national unity, youth development and community-based security initiatives, expressing confidence that Nigeria would continue to record significant progress in security, economic growth and sustainable national development under President Tinubu’s leadership.
