The Police Service Commission (PSC) has wielded the big stick, dismissing three senior police officers over serious misconduct.
According to a press statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission also approved sweeping sanctions against 42 officers — including the reduction in rank of 16 officers, severe reprimand for 21 officers, and ordinary reprimand for two others. Three officers were exonerated, while some previously suspended officers were reinstated.
Kalu disclosed that the decisions were reached at the Commission’s Plenary meeting presided over by its Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, Commission Headquarters, Abuja.
Reaffirming zero tolerance for corruption, human rights abuses, meddling in land and civil matters, and other misconduct, DIG Argungu assured the public of continuous speedy dispensation of disciplinary cases.
He commended the Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Discipline & Legal Matters, Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (rtd), and other board members, including DIG (Dr) Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), Justice Christine Dabup (rtd), Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, and Mr. Ferdinand Ekpe, for their dedication in handling the cases.
