President Bola Tinubu has rejoiced with the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, on his 85th birthday.
Tinubu, in a statement signed and released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Kumuyi as a remarkable servant of God whose unwavering faith and dedication have shaped one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian ministries for over five decades.
The President praised Kumuyi’s impact on believers across Nigeria and the world, noting that his voice, writings and ministry had reached far beyond the church.
“As the convener of Global Crusade with Kumuyi, your voice has reached beyond the church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions across the world.
“Your writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose,” Tinubu said.
He also noted that Kumuyi’s ministry had produced generational impact in families and leadership.
The President stated, “Your ministry and influence have transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders, and strengthened the faith of generations of believers.”
Tinubu concluded by praying for Kumuyi’s continued health and vitality, saying, “On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you strength, divine health, peace, and abundant grace.”
Kumuyi, born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, founded the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973 as a campus fellowship at the University of Lagos, where he was a mathematics lecturer.
The ministry has since grown into one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in Africa, with congregations in over 150 countries.
Known for his strict doctrinal standards, evangelistic fervour and personal discipline, Kumuyi has remained one of the most respected voices in African Christianity.
