The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday approved the seven minister nominees whose names were forwarded by President Bola Tinubu last week.

The confirmation was consequent upon due diligence by the upper legislative chamber.

The nominees’ list was presented by the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, on Wednesday.

Bamidele, in his presentation, reminded senators that the nominees were earlier scheduled for screening on Tuesday, but the exercise was postponed.

He thereafter sought the leave of the Chamber for nominees to be screened.

“That the Senate do consider the request of Mr. President , Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the confirmation of the following nominees for appointment as ministers of Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended,” he prayed.

The senate resolved into the Committee of the Whole with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, as chair.

After questions and answers were taken from the minister-designates, all of them were confirmed in an exercise that lasted for five hours.

The new ministers are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Dr Jumoke Oduwole and Suwaiba Said Ahmed Ahmad.
