Prominent philanthropist, Engr. Olanrewaju Daramola has through his Non-Governmental Organisation, Daramola Dynasty Food Palliative, distributed food and cash palliative to no fewer than 2,000 households in Remo North Local Government Area in Ogun State.

According to Daramola, the philanthropic act, held on Saturday, was in furtherance of his NGO’s aims which are to impact lives positively and promote the values of humanity.

While addressing the teeming beneficiaries, the successful entrepreneur cum philanthropist hinted that the distribution of food items and cash was one of the many economic relief projects the NGO has lined up to cushion the negative impact of fuel subsidy removal by the federal government adding that more projects are in the pipeline.

“Food insecurity is a major issue across communities in Nigeria and even across the world. Community food banks help to alleviate hunger, build a healthier community, subdue economic hardship and bring people together,” the Isara-born indigene was quoted saying.

Daramola added; “As we grapple with the inconveniences while trying to build a stronger viable economy, it has become expedient to contribute our quota towards making a difference. This initiative is a step for my family and me to extend our little contribution back to our community during this period of economic hardship”

He described the gesture as one of his purposes in life as he urged the beneficiaries not to thank him yet.

“Every day, it breaks my heart pondering on how people survive these harsh economic realities. Our aim is simply to show some love and give back to our community by cushioning the effect of subsidy, one of the major problems that have to be dealt with is hunger. Be rest assured that this initiative will not stop here but will be extended to medical outreaches and vocational programmes,” he added.

Also addressing the beneficiaries, Engr. Daramola’s mother, Chief Mrs Yemisi Daramola remarked that the initiative was to plant smiles on the faces of the vulnerable in this hard time as she appreciated the leaders across the local government for their gracious presence at the event.

In his remarks, one of the LGA leaders, Sir Adebiyi Adeleye hailed Engr. Daramola’s mother for being an illustrious daughter of the Late Balogun of Isara Remo owing to Engr. Daramola’s proper upbringing and also for her remarkable parenting over him.

Furthermore, he described Engr. Daramola as an “Omoluabi” filled with utmost respect, brilliance and compassion as he went on to applaud him for the initiative.

Beneficiaries of the initiative were full of heartfelt gratitude to Daramola as many struggled to hold back tears of joy for the kind gesture shown towards them.

Other personalities across the local government in attendance include Sir. Adebiyi Adeleye (KJW), Chief Mrs Yemisi Daramola, Hon Leke Kuye and Hon Keshinro.
