Gov. Abiodun, Ambassador Isola Hold Strategic Meeting Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the immediate past Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, on Friday held a strategic meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

As gathered, the meeting held at the governor’s office in Oke Mosan underscored the enduring strength of progressive politics, purposeful leadership and constructive engagement in the collective interest of Ogun State and Nigeria.

The high-level meeting, called at the instance of Governor Abiodun, provided an opportunity for both leaders to engage in extensive discussions on issues of governance, sustainable development, economic growth, political stability and the future of Ogun State within the broader context of national progress.

Their conversation reflected the conviction that governance must remain people-centred, visionary and responsive to the aspirations of citizens while strengthening democratic institutions and fostering inclusive development.

Discussions also centred on strengthening the governing structures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
ahead of the 2027 general elections. Both leaders were said to have emphasized the importance of unity, internal cohesion, responsible leadership, effective grassroots mobilization and sustained engagement with the people as indispensable ingredients for electoral success and the continued consolidation of progressive governance.

Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola’s impressive public service record equally lends considerable weight to his contributions in matters of governance and national development.

Having served meritoriously as Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Finance, Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Honourable Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and subsequently as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional administrative competence, diplomatic excellence and an abiding commitment to public service.

His decision to embrace and support the choice of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the Ogun State concensus Gubernatorial candidate of the APC after he (Isola) had put up a good show as a leading aspirant for the same position further reinforced his reputation as a loyal party man who places unity, stability and collective progress above personal ambition.

The cordial atmosphere that characterised Friday’s meeting between Governor Abiodun and Ambassador Isola reflected the maturity of democratic leadership and the enduring strength of progressive politics in Ogun State. It also sent a reassuring message that constructive dialogue among respected leaders remains indispensable to good governance, institutional continuity and sustainable development.

As Ogun State continues to consolidate its position as one of Nigeria’s leading centres of industrial growth, investment and infrastructural transformation, engagements of this nature reinforce public confidence that experienced leaders remain committed to exchanging ideas, strengthening institutions and promoting policies capable of delivering greater prosperity for the people.

Ultimately, the meeting between Governor Dapo Abiodun and Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola transcended routine political consultation. It represented a renewed commitment to the principles of visionary leadership, party unity, democratic consolidation and responsible governance. At a time when citizens increasingly seek purposeful leadership and practical solutions to developmental challenges, the dialogue between both distinguished statesmen stands as a reminder that genuine progress is best achieved through consultation, experience, mutual respect and an unwavering dedication to the public good.
