Family Intensifies Search For Missing Mother, Children

A family in Ogun State is seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Kayode Kehinde Temitope and her children who left Nigeria without informing their relatives. They have remained out of contact for several months.

According to family members, the woman had been married to their son, a Lagos-based geologist for several years, and the union produced four children, including two daughters namely Kayode Anuoluwapo and Kayode Iremide.

Relatives described the family as close-knit and deeply rooted in their traditional and cultural heritage.

The situation reportedly took an unexpected turn in December 2025 when the husband travelled abroad on an official assignment. During his absence, his wife visited his parents in their hometown in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State alongside the children.

Family sources stated that discussions took place regarding certain longstanding family traditions and rites of passage observed by members of the extended family. However, shortly afterwards, the woman was scared and she left the community immediately with her children without notifying anyone about her destination.

Upon returning from his trip, her husband was said to have discovered that his wife and children had left his house after several threats of abduction for the mandatory traditional rites.

Subsequent efforts by family members to establish contact with her reportedly yielded little success.

It was alleged that her husband’s relatives insisted that their primary interest is the compulsory performance of traditional rites for the children which they described as more than a century old family tradition.

Sources close to the family revealed that last week, her father in law’s traditional cult group traced and invaded her last known residential address where she was accommodated but she wasn’t found. The hoodlums attacked and injured her sister. She escaped with the help of local security guards in charge of the community.

Information has emerged suggesting that the woman and her children had travelled out of the country.

The matter has been reported to the police for further investigation.
