The relatives of kidnapped serving NYSC corps member and lawyer; Miss Eunice Ameh, has disclosed that the suspected abductors are asking for ₦20 million for her release.
Eunice was abducted in the FCT on Tuesday, 6 May, shortly after leaving her job at Blades and Butchers Ltd in Maitama around 5:40 p.m.
She was heading home to Life Camp when her phone went unreachable.
Both lines have remained switched off despite repeated attempts by relatives.
The corps member had only recently resumed the job as Sales Manager and was close to completing her NYSC service, including her final Community Development Service activities.
-Police confirm investigation, ransom demand emerges-
The disappearance was reported immediately to the Maitama Division of the Nigeria Police Force and to the NYSC.
Initially, there was no contact from the abductors.
That changed when the kidnappers reached out to the family with a ₦20 million demand, intensifying fears and prompting fresh calls for swift action from security agencies.
FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh said an investigation was underway and operatives were working to trace Eunice’s whereabouts and establish how the abduction occurred.
-Renewed fears over Abuja security-
The incident has reignited concern among residents over rising kidnappings and ransom crimes in the city, particularly along commuting routes and residential areas.
As of Saturday, police had not confirmed any negotiations or breakthroughs.
The Ameh family continues to appeal to security agencies and the public for help, hoping for Eunice’s safe return.
