The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for university admission in the 2026 academic session.
This was made known Monday at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions held at the Body of Bencher Auditorium in Abuja. JAMB said individual universities may set higher marks based on their own policies.
Cut-off marks for other institutions were also set: 150 for Colleges of Nursing Sciences, and 100 each for polytechnics and colleges of agriculture.
The benchmarks were adopted after consultations with vice chancellors, rectors, provosts, and other heads of tertiary institutions.
Education Minister Dr. Maruf Alausa praised JAMB’s use of technology in managing admissions, saying its data has improved policy planning and decision-making. He urged the sector to adapt to a world shaped by technology, global competition, and skills-driven development.
JAMB also set admission deadlines: October 31, 2026, for public universities; November 30, 2026, for private universities; and December 31, 2026, for polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education.
