The Lagos State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Engr. Adigun Ibrahim, MNSE, has disclosed that the youth body is eager for collaboration with the United Nations for the continuous development of young individuals in the state.

Adigun said this when he featured as one of the panelists at a virtual forum hosted by the diplomatic and political international Organisation on Tuesday.

The forum, Theliberationnews observed was organised to discuss outcomes of UN’s Summit of the Future held in September and also commemorate its 79th anniversary.

The virtual dialogue which featured several youth advocates and heads of various youth organizations was centered around the UN’s pact for the future which are unlocking, “Sustainable development and financing for development, International peace and security, Science, technology and innovation and digital cooperation, Youth and future generations and
Transforming global governance.”

In his remarks, Adigun commended the international organization for the robust pact and continuous efforts in championing humanitarian initiatives and effectively addressing the challenges faced by young people globally. He emphasized the importance of partnerships in driving meaningful change and highlighted the potential of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) as a key stakeholder in this mission.

“Continuous collaboration is essential,” Adigun stated. “By working together, we can fasttrack the success of UN’s pact with the future generation and other sustainable programs that empower our youth, particularly in areas such as education, technology, and entrepreneurship. This will not only enhance their employability but also foster self-reliance.”

He also urged the United Nations to increase support for youth-led initiatives, noting that young individuals are often at the forefront of innovation and social change. Adigun expressed optimism about future collaborations and reiterated the NYCN’s commitment to working with the UN to implement initiatives that will uplift and inspire the youth in Lagos State and beyond.
