There was palpable pandemonium in the early hours of Wednesday as fire gutted the multi-storey West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) building in Yaba area of Lagos State.

Scores of people were said to be trapped in the building as the fire rages.

The inferno was reportedly ignited by electrical surge in one of the offices before going wild almost immediately.

It has, however, been put out by a team of Lagos state fire services operatives who promptly rushed to the scene.
