Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have settled their rift during a meeting in Paris, France.
The meeting was apparently themed to repair relations following the governor’s overt support for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the party’s presidential primaries.
Tinubu with Osinbajo had combined forces to back Abiodun and frustrate the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun from producing his successor in 2019.
However, in the approach of the APC presidential primaries, Governor Abiodun had openly come out to back Osinbajo who is from his state.
In a retort, Tinubu had days to the APC presidential primaries, during a controversial speech in Abeokuta openly reprimanded Governor Abiodun over the seeming betrayal saying that he could not have become governor without his support.
The situation for Abiodun was made more dire after Senator Amosun to the shock of political pundits stepped down for Tinubu at the APC convention ground.
However, the prospects for repaired relations came to fore on Monday after Governor Abiodun shared pictures of himself with Tinubu after a meeting with the APC presidential candidate in Paris, France that indicated that they may have reconciled.
According to him, the two of them had rubbed minds on numerous party and national issues during their meeting.
“Spent quality time with our party leader and Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rub minds on numerous party and National issues,” Abiodun said.
