Alhaja Fatimah Oye-Balogun, aka ‘Faaji’, is one notable politician in Ifako/Ijaiye.

This reputable businesswoman and philanthropist recently conducted her routine philanthropy by dolling out, through her Eleos Foundation, interest-free loans to indigent residents of the Ijaiye/Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State.

The initiative targeted 100 beneficiaries that got between N50,000 and N100,000 interest free loans.

Alhaja Oye-Balogun gleefully noted that her foundation aims to impact the lives of people positively in all spheres. This is the eighth edition of the initiative. She confirmed that 100 persons benefitted.

She said: “l love to make people around me to be happy. For as long as almighty God continues to bless me, l will not relent from giving back to my community. This informed the entire essence of my Eleos Foundation that has routinely engaged in giving my people interest-free loan.

“The interest-free loan programme is targeted at improving existing businesses that need reinvigoration. Being a source of help and succour in this regard is one of the many ways by which I intend to contribute to the betterment of lives of people around me and give back to the community.

“I also implore beneficiaries to make judicious use of this opportunity while paving a smooth path to others who are yet to benefit. They should stay true and committed to the repayment of this loan.”

Tunde Oyekunle , the leader of the Ijaiye/Ojokoro LCDA legislative arm who was present at the ceremony described the initiative as laudable.

“I thank Alhaja Oye-Balogun for contributing her own quota to giving back to the community. The government cannot do everything, so I will encourage others to come forward as Alhaja Oye-Balogun has done, to help complement the efforts of the government in providing welfare succour to the people,” he noted.

Some beneficiaries hailed the initiative, saying Mrs. Oye-Balogun has proven to be a real helper of the masses.

Mrs. Risikat Abdullah, a second time beneficiary of the initiative, thanked Alhaja Oye-Balogun for according priority to people’s welfare in her life endeavors.

“In fact, Eleos Foundation has been very good to people like me. This is the second time I will benefit from this initiative. I got N50,000 the first time and because I paid back as and when due, I was called this time too.

“So, I urge other beneficiaries to pay back as agreed so that others can also benefit.”
