The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), has announced the election of Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, as the Chamber’s new president.
Olawale-Cole was elected following the expiration of the tenure of Mrs Toki Mabogunje, who had meritoriously served the Chamber in the same capacity for two years.
Speaking on the change of baton, the Chamber’s Director-General, Dr Chinyere Almona, in a statement, stated that the coming on board of the former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development and later Commissioner for Works and Transport, was arrived at, at the Chamber’s yearly general meeting, yesterday.
The two-time commissioner, she added, is an astute boardroom executive who had served the Chamber previously in various capacities such as Deputy President, Vice President, Chairperson, Public Affairs Committee, Chairperson, Financial and General Purposes Committee among others.
“Indeed, we are very pleased as Asiwaju Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole assumes the role of President of LCCI. As a Council Member and a key officer of the Chamber, he has brought his extensive knowledge and experience to bear and has provided inspirational leadership and direction for the success of the Chamber.
“His emergence as the President will enhance the Chamber’s role as the leading public policy advocate, promoting and protecting the interest of its members and the business community at large,” she added.
The accomplished business mogul, and Founder of Colenson Group of Companies, will be formally inaugurated as the 24th President of the Chamber tomorrow, in Lagos.
