Senator Amosun Bereaved As Younger Brother Dies At 65

Erstwhile Ogun State governor and senator, Ibikunle Amosun, has lost his younger brother, Alhaji Oyesiku Amosun, popularly known as Sheko.

Alhaji Amosun passed away on Friday evening at the age of 65 without any signs of illness.

The deceased, sources said, was full of life earlier in the day and had joined other Muslim faithful for the Jumu’ah prayer at the White House Central Mosque located within the Amosun compound in Ibara GRA.

He was also said to have led worshippers in the Asr prayer at the same mosque before leaving for his residence.

According to sources close to the family, the late Amosun later drove himself home, where he reportedly complained of chest pain afterwards.

He was advised by those around him to break his Ramadan fast due to his condition, but he declined, insisting that he could still complete the day’s fast.

He, however, passed away later in the evening.

In a statement announcing the death, the Sanusi-Amosun family described the late Alhaji Oyesiku Amosun as a devoted Muslim and family man who lived a life of service to Allah.

“He observed the Jumu’ah prayer earlier on Friday and also led the Asr prayer at the White House, Ibara Mosque before answering the final call of his Creator,” the family said.

The statement added that although his passing was painful, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, the family took solace in the belief that ‘unto Allah we belong and unto Him we shall return.’

He was later buried at the family residence in the Ita-Iyalode area of Abeokuta.

Senator Amosun and his political associates, families, and friends, including former ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, were present during the burial.

Alhaji Oyesiku Amosun is survived by his wives, children, and other members of the Sanusi-Amosun family.
