Gov’ship Seat: Ogun APC Stakeholders Throw Weight Behind Sarafa Isola, Back Tinubu’s Second Term Bid

A mammoth crowd of admirers, over twenty one support groups and scores of Ogun State All Progressives Congress(APC) Stakeholders on Tuesday, 24th March, 2026, endorsed Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola to be the next governor of Ogun State just as they backed the second term bid of President Bola Tinubu.

The endorsements took place at the Sir Kesington Adebutu Hall of the Abeokuta Sports Club in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta , Ogun State capital.

At the Stakeholders Engagement convened for the 2027 Gubernatorial aspiration of Ambassador Isola, which drew delegates from all the three Senatorial Districts in the state, speakers extolled the qualities of the immediate past Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and unanimously said he is the most qualified and most experienced to take Ogun State to greater heights as the next governor.

Among the speakers was Elder Joju Fadairo JP, a chieftain of the APC who disclosed how visited Ambassador Isola in London while he was the High Commissioner in the UK and told him that Ogun State needed his services as Governor.

He and the other speakers said of all the aspirants, Ambassador Isola has the best experience of service in executive positions as well as local and international exposure necessary to be an effective governor, having previously served as an elected Local Government Chairman; Chairman of Chairmen of Local Governments in Ogun State; Minister and member of the Federal Executive Council and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

“His track record of compassion and service distinguishes him as a humane leader who understands the needs of the people”, one of the speakers said.

In his remarks later, Ambassador Isola thanked Chief Fadairo and others for believing in him and promised to make the state proud if elected governor, adding that had consulted widely with all major stakeholders in Ogun State.

The governorship hopeful also said he has held series of meetings with past governors of the state, such as Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Senator Gbenga Daniel, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and the incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

He said the main focus of his discussion with them was how to put an end to what he called “hostile succession from one governor to the other ” which he said is not in the best interest of Ogun State.

He therefore advised all aspirants in the governorship race to eschew animosity and desperation.

Ambassador Isola said the event of the day was not yet his declation but a Stakeholders Engagement.

” You do a governorship declation in the open, not in a hall like this. Despite the mammoth attendance today, for which I thank you all, this is just a stakeholders engagement, the real declation is coming soon,” he said.

At the national level, Ambassador Isola said President Bola Tinubu has introduced many policies and programmes that have put Nigeria on the path of progress and prosperity. He therefore called for a resolution for the endorsement of the president for a second term and this was unanimously accepted.

Two other resolutions were for the endorsement of Ambassador Isola as the preferred choice to be the next governor of Ogun State and fusion of all the support groups into one to be known as the Sarafa Support Group (SSG).
