The southwest zone of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday elected its officials for the next four years.

During the congress which was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos Island, Dr. Isaac Kekemeke was re-elected as the Zonal Chairman.
Theliberationnews reports that the election which recorded 3,188 delegates from the six South-West states; Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Ogun was conducted by consensus through a voice vote, alongside seven other zonal executives.
Similar election was held across other geopolitical zones in the country. While the southeast zone had its Congress in Enugu State, Delta State hosted the south-south edition. Kaduna, Gombe and Nasarawa hosted the Northwest, Northeast and Northcentral congresses, respectively.
The newly elected south-west zonal officials include: Chairman: Dr. Isaacs Kekemeke, Secretary: Alfred Aluko, Legal Adviser: Ismail Majaro, Organising Secretary: Lateef Ibirogba, Publicity Secretary: Ayobami Afolabi, Woman Leader: Mrs. Yetunde Adesanya, Youth Leader: Barr. Daramola Adesuyi and Representative for Persons Living with Disabilities: Dayo Ishola.
Dignitaries at the event included Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Deputy Governor of Lagos Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Osun governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, former Ogun Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, and several senators and party leaders from the region as well as council chairmen in Lagos under the banner of Conference57.


In his victory speech, Kekemeke expressed confidence in the party’s strength across the South-West, promising improved performance from his team and assurances of victories in the 2027 governorship elections in Osun, Ekiti, and Oyo states.
Speaking on behalf of the South-West APC governors, Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the peaceful conduct of the congress, describing it as a demonstration of political maturity and unity in the region. He also acknowledged the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in overseeing the process.
“Today, we have seen the conduct of a free and fair election, following the provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act. This congress shows that the South-West is united and a formidable political bloc,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Chairman of the Zonal Congress Committee, Jide Jimoh, highlighted the region’s tradition of progressive politics and confirmed that the exercise complied fully with the 2026 Electoral Act. The National Secretary of the APC, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, represented by National Youth Leader Dr. Dayo Israel, congratulated the new executives and urged them to work collectively to deliver the South-West for the President in 2027.
