The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed optimism that Nigeria’s security challenges will soon be surmounted as he noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working round the clock to strengthen the country’s security architecture.

Speaking at the APC Stakeholders and Progressives Governors Forum meeting held on Saturday, in Lagos, Obasa said he had no doubt that President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government would do everything necessary to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

“We have seen the President in action, how he is innovating and working hard to resolve our many challenges, especially insecurity, and we believe he will get it done. He’s still the man that can do it. That is why we must do everything within our powers to ensure that he is returned in 2027,” Obasa said.

The Speaker commended the APC governors for their dedication and commitment to supporting the President in tackling Nigeria’s security problems. He urged them to mobilise their people when they return to their respective states and ensure that everyone contributes to addressing security challenges rather than remaining indifferent.

“Security is not just about the governors; it is about everybody. We must all be involved in fighting this problem. We must give the President all the support we can so that he succeeds in redirecting the trajectory of Nigeria,” he added.

The Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) met in Lagos between December 5 and 6 in a session convened by the Forum’s Chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

In a communiqué read by Governor Uzodimma, the governors passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu’s administration and pledged support for his Renewed Hope Agenda and his 2027 re-election bid.

The Forum reviewed the security situation nationwide and expressed appreciation for the improved coordination among federal, state, and local security structures, as well as the sacrifices of security agencies and community volunteers. They also resolved to further strengthen local security architecture across all states.
