Lagos State government’s intentional and immense contribution to youth human-capital development has been recognized by the Federal Ministry of Youth development.
This is as the ‘Centre of Excellence’ bagged the ‘Most Outstanding Contributions to youth Development in Nigeria’ award at the ongoing 2025 Africa/National Youth Day Celebration Finale.
The program which is being held at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies and powered by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development saw Lagos ranked highest among other states of the federation.

In the past few years the state has intensified its commitment to youth development and empowerment with numerous programs encapsulated in the state governor, Dr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda roled out to drive youth growth.
In addition to the numerous far-reaching programs executed by Sanwo-Olu through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development ably led by the youthful commissioner, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende and the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu the state has always increased its support for youth organizations such as such as the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Ibile Youth Academy, Lagos Youth Development Institute, Lagos Youth Parliament and other youth platforms within and also, the umbrella body; the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), ably led by Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, MNSE.
Also worthy of note is the Lagos State Youth Policy review and the movement of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.
The award presented by the Minister for youth development, Hon. Emmanuel Olawande was received by Engr. Adigun Ibrahim and the Vice Chairman NYCN Lagos East, Comrade Abubakri Asoro on behalf of the state government.
