Bakers across the country have been urged to reduce the exorbitant prices of bread and allow it reflect the dropping prices of flour.

In a social media campaign making the rounds on social media, attention was drawn to the exploitative prices of bread across the country.

One of the analytical posts to drive home the campaign read: “When the price of flour was soaring high to ₦80,000-₦90,000, the bread sellers were quick to raise the price of bread. But now, the price of flour has dropped to ₦35,000-₦40,000, and what do we see? NOTHING! The price of bread remains the same!

“Fellow Nigerians, let’s not just sit back and watch! We need to hold the bread sellers and manufacturers accountable! If they can increase the price when things go up, they should also reduce it when things come down!

“To all bread sellers and manufacturers, we urge you: BE FAIR! REDUCE THE PRICE OF BREAD!

“Let’s do our part, Nigerians! Let’s demand fair prices and support businesses that do the right thing.”
