In a bid to probably appease the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) over its recently-secured court ruling that uphold consumer rights in Nigeria, MultiChoice Nigeria has announced yet another insignificant slash in the prices of its DStv and GOtv decoders.
The new prices, which took effect on November 1, peg the DStv decoder at ₦7,900 and the GOtv decoder at ₦6,500. This marks the second price reduction in just a few months, reflecting the company’s efforts to ease the financial burden on customers amid current economic realities.
Via a statement released on Monday, MultiChoice said the latest adjustment was introduced to give more families access to premium local and international entertainment as the festive season draws near.
According to the company, the new pricing will make it easier for households to stay connected to a variety of shows from blockbuster movies and kids’ programmes to African originals without stretching their budgets.
This follows a similar move by MultiChoice in June under its “We’ve Got You” campaign, when the company reduced decoder prices by nearly half. At that time, DStv decoders dropped from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000, while GOtv units went from ₦18,600 to ₦9,900.
Also, sports enthusiasts are not left out, as the company reassured customers that major football leagues, including the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and the upcoming AFCON tournament, will remain available through its SuperSport channels.
MultiChoice added that despite rising operational costs and competition from streaming platforms, it remains committed to providing value-driven entertainment for Nigerian households.
The company expressed optimism that the new offer will enable more families to enjoy an exciting festive season filled with quality viewing experiences.
