The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) seems to be making a headway out of it’s internal crisis as Former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has been appointed as the party’s new National Chairman.
Turaki emerged through a consensus decision made by the party’s stakeholders at a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night, October 22, 2025.
Theliberationnews gathered that Turaki’s appointment was reached after broad consultations among PDP Northern stakeholders, reflecting the party’s efforts to strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2025 national convention.
The stakeholders’ meeting was attended by notable figures, including: Umar Damagum (PDP National Chairman), Governors Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa)
Former Government Officials at the meeting included Prof. Jerry Gana (former Information Minister), Bukola Saraki (former Senate President), Ibrahim Shekarau and Ahmed Makarfi (former Kaduna State Governors).
Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro also attended the meeting.
Turaki’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to unite the party and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
