Liverpool FC have completed the transfer of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

Isak joins the Premier League champions as their new No.9 on a long-term contract, which he signed on deadline day after successfully passing a medical.

Soon after finalising his move at the AXA Training Centre, the 25-year-old forward told Liverpoolfc.com: “I feel amazing.

“It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.”

Sweden striker Isak established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading attackers during his three seasons with Newcastle.

Having arrived from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, he scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for the St. James’ Park club.

Isak netted 54 times in 86 Premier League outings for the Magpies, with 23 of those goals coming last season, when he finished second behind Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

He is now a teammate of Salah and has set his sights on winning trophies at Anfield.

Isak added: “I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well.

“I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that].”

Isak began his career with AIK in his homeland before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

After a successful loan spell with Dutch side Willem II, he signed for Sociedad in the summer of 2019 and was the competition’s top scorer as Sociedad won the 2019-20 Copa del Rey.

To date, he has earned 52 caps for Sweden, scoring 16 goals.
